In 1911, the University of Colorado published a General Catalogue of the Officers and Graduates of the University of Colorado 1877-1910, which listed graduates of the University of Colorado School of Medicine as well as the graduates of DU's Denver College of Medicine, of the Gross Medical College, and of the Denver and Gross College of Medicine. If the location or status in 1911 of these graduates was published in this Catalogue, it is listed below after their name.

Note that in Colorado, the University of Denver is DU, and the University of Colorado is CU.

CU Department of Medicine and Surgery:

Dr. Jacob Campbell — a 24-year-old native of St. Louis, Missouri, who received the only MD awarded by the University of Colorado in 1887 — began practicing medicine in Ward, Colorado, where he was the first physician in town. Dr. Campbell eventually became Boulder County coroner and Boulder city health officer. He was also an instructor in minor surgery at the CU medical department.

Dr. Irvin Edmund Bennett received the only MD awarded by the University of Colorado in 1889. In 1891, he received a second MD from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and served as an army surgeon in the Philippines during the Spanish-American War (1898). In 1911, Dr. Bennett was reported to be practicing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

After graduation from the Gross College of Medicine, James Naismith, MD — a 36-year-old native of what is now Mississippi Mills, Ontario, who had developed the game of basketball in 1891 — began teaching at the University of Kansas, where he was a physical education instructor, chapel director, and eventually the basketball coach.
